United Methodist Women

The Mount Pleasant United Methodist Women invite
you to join us the fourth Monday of each month!

Mount Pleasant United Methodist Women began in1932 with twelve members as the Ladies Auxiliary. The first meetings were held on Sunday, then later on Saturday afternoon. In 1940 the name changed to the Woman’s Society of Christian Services. In 1972 the Ladies Auxiliary name was changed to United Methodist Women.

Beginning in January of 2008 the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Women came together as one circle. For many years past there had been two active circles. The Loy Circle was formed in 1955 and was named after the pastor of the church in 1932, and the Minnie Morris Circle, which was named in memory of a dedicated charter member. Each circle met on a monthly basis, with quarterly combined circle meetings. Currently the UMW has thirty-nine active members.

Throughout the years, since the first meeting in 1932, God has led us in ministry and actions to support our local church, community, and beyond. As women of United Methodist Women we strive to fulfill the mission statement adopted by all within the worldwide organization.

At our monthly meetings our members come together to fellowship with each other, enjoy inspirational programs, and support selected local missions through projects. In February of each year we extend an open invitation to the entire church to join us for a covered dish Valentine Dinner. For our monthly meetings in March, June, September, and December our circle plans a special event or special program. One month of the year, usually August, we forego an organized monthly meeting to visit our church family members who are not able to attend church. The first Saturday of October we hold a Country Breakfast with awesome food and crafts. At Thanksgiving we adopt a needy family from the community to provide
them with a plentiful meal. At Christmas, we again adopt a needy family from the community to provide groceries and Christmas gifts for the entire family. Throughout the year our organization fulfills the PURPOSE of all United Methodist Women by supporting these ministries, as well as other local, district, and national missions with our gifts, time, and projects.
